April Meeting Highlights

During April's Charity Sew Day members successfully sewed over 60 of these sweet blankets for the NICU. Many hands make light work, and our guild proved it! Thank you to all who cut, sewed, pressed and donated supplies. 







Business:
~ If you did not pick up your raffle quilt tickets at April's meeting, please contact Lise or plan to pick them up at May's meeting. All members are asked to participate! Ticket money needs to be turned in no later than June's meeting. The drawing will be held July 1st.

~Dues are $25 and due at June's meeting. 

~ A new Challenge has been presented!

NEXT MONTH:
~ The Block of the Month for May is the May Pole Block. Beth will be "stealing" blocks monthly to be made into extra quilts for charity. Extra blocks made for this purpose can be given directly to Beth. 
~ We are swapping Modern Floral Fats Quarters at May's meeting in honor of Mothers' Day. 
~ Get to know your fellow members at May's program "Speed Dating".  Check your email for details! You won't want to miss the fun!

March Meeting Higlights

March's meeting was the PMQG's Mid-Atlantic Show & Tell. Members shared their class experiences and showed off some of their fun purchases. We can't wait for next year!
Barb took Laura Wasilowski's  fun Zentangle class. 
MAQF was Cathy's VERY FIRST quilt show!

~ The new slate of officers was approved and Malinda passed the baton. Your new Officers     are:

~ Malinda was surprised with a parting gift of bright Economy Blocks made by guild Members. 


~ Our Raffle Quilt was a huge success at the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Fest! Many thanks to all of you for volunteering to get our first fundraiser off to a fabulous start!

NEXT MONTH:
~ April's meeting will be a sew day to make wee blankets for still-born babies. Please bring:

        - Pre-cut 12.5" WHITE flannel squares
        - Pre-cut 12.5" WHITE fabric squares

        - 1/4" up to 1/2" wide WHITE ribbon
        - Sewing machine, scissors, white thread, cutting supplies

~ Raffle tickets and a photo of the Raffle Quilt will be distributed to each member at April's meeting. Members are encouraged to sell all their tickets. Start thinking of who you know! 
~ April's Block of the Month is the Economy Block.
~ Malinda will present a new Guild Challenge

~ Tricia will announce May's Swap.

The PMQG at Mid-Atlantic Quilt Fest February 27- March 2

The PMQG will be well represented at this year's Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival held at the Hampton Roads Convention Center. Several members have quilts in the show, and our raffle quilt, "Fiesta", is on display for you to purchase tickets. If you're in the area, come visit! We'd love to meet you!

February Meeting Highlights

Fusing in February was this month's program, with Lise leading the way. Members brought colorful fabrics to fuse and cut into bright blocks for March's block of the month.



Business:
~ March's meeting will usher in some new Officers and Chairs as we gear up for more excitement in 2014. Thank you to those who stepped up to fill the available positions. A BIG shout out to everyone who has worked behind the scenes the past year to get our guild off to a great start!
~ We will be displaying our modern quilts in the Quiltfest Destination Savannah show March 27-30 in Savannah, GA. CHECK YOUR EMAIL for important instructions and dates! 

~ Mid-Atlantic Quilt Fest is coming! 
White Glove Volunteers:

  • You will need to provide your own white gloves. (Joy has one pair left to loan.)
  • You must pay the entrance fee to enter the Show floor.  
  • Check in with the Show Registration Desk 10 minutes prior to your shift. Please allow time for parking, etc. 
Our Raffle Quilt, "Fiesta", was on display at February's meeting! Isn't it gorgeous? Many many thanks to everyone who contributed, and to Quilter's Dream Batting for supplying the batting. A special thanks to Lise for pulling it all together, Malinda for her quilting skills and Katie for being willing to bind it. Great job, Ladies!

~ March's Block of the Month is the Fused Circles block we created at February's meeting. Make as many blocks as you'd like for more chances to win!
~ March's program will be Mid-Atlantic Show & Tell. We want to hear all about the workshops, classes and lectures you attended! Plus, bring your goodies and share your plans for new fabrics/supplies. 

~ We will Swap modern Mug Rugs. A Mug Rug is a small quilt just the right size for your mug of something yummy and a small snack. They are also the perfect size to experiment with a new technique, use up scraps or try a new fabric. They can be hand embellished, fused, pieced, bound or turned...anything goes. Mug rugs come in many sizes - if you're lost a good starting place is 7" x 10". You can visit Joy's Pinterest board for some ideas. Have fun!

January Meeting Highlights

It's a New Year and we're looking forward to growing as a guild, starting with our new location.  This month members sewed their hearts out in a Jelly Roll Race. What a fun way to complete a quilt top!

Business:
Guild elections are coming, and your Guild needs YOU! Nominations are being accepted through February for the upcoming year. (Guild year runs April 1 to April 1). Elections will be held at the March 8th meeting. Nominations can be made through the Guild email or Big Ideas Box. 

We will be displaying our modern quilts in the Quiltfest Destination Savannah (GA) show in March. Your list of quilt submissions must be turned in to Pat W. by noon January 20th. Check your email for details.

Members signed up to White Glove and man the Raffle Quilt table at Mid-Atlantic Quilt Fest. You will need to provide your own white gloves. PLEASE mark your calendars and show up for your allotted time. Questions? Contact Lise S. or email us.

December Meeting Highlights

The PMQG closed out the year with a party, which seems fitting as we complete our first full year as a guild! It's been a lot of fun getting to know everyone, and we're looking forward to more fun together in the new year ahead.

We will be displaying our modern quilts in the Quiltfest Destination Savannah (GA) show in March. That's plenty of time to finish up your modern beauties to show off! Please have an idea of how many quilts and what sizes you plan to display at the January meeting.

November Meeting Highlights

Our Raffle Quilt is almost ready to piece together! If you have any blocks left to turn in, please get them to Lise or Joy as quickly as possible. 

We will be displaying our modern quilts in the Quiltfest Destination Savannah (GA) show in March. That's plenty of time to finish up your modern beauties to show off. More details to come!
